BYP Network and Euromonitor International Join Forces for a Night of Networking, Insight, and Diversity
This gathering, designed for Black professionals seeking to expand their networks and gain valuable insights, was a resounding success. The evening featured a dynamic panel discussion with luminaries from Euromonitor, including Laju Tripathi, Senior Director of Sales Enablement, Marshaun Montgomery, Consulting Business Development Manager, and Karitza Hines, Director of Human Resources Americas. The event's pièce de résistance was a captivating fireside chat with Adeife Onwuzulike, Global Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, based in Euromonitor's London office.

From the moment Adeife Onwuzulike took the mic, the audience was entranced. With a theme of transparency, Adeife delved into crucial questions about Euromonitor's objectives for its Chicago office. She elucidated the significance of an event like this for their organisation, emphasising the importance of fostering connections and cultivating an inclusive workplace.
The conversation pivoted seamlessly to the subject of mentoring, exploring how it shapes professional and personal growth from both mentor and mentee perspectives. Adeife's passion for mentoring was evident as she responded to an audience member's query about whether she mentors males.
She revealed that she currently mentors young male professionals, highlighting the special place they hold in her heart due to her own experience as a mother of young sons. Adeife understands the unique challenges and perceptions that young Black males face, and she is committed to providing guidance and support to help them thrive in their careers.
The discussions continued with the diverse panel, shedding light on Euromonitor's commitment to addressing diversity gaps within their senior-level roles. Karitza Hines shared her unconventional career journey, beginning as a Recruiter, then Executive Assistant to a CEO, and eventually ascending to the role of Director of Human Resources for Chicago & LATAM, an inspiring testament to determination and growth over her 20-year career. Marshaun Montgomery shared his experience as one of only a few Black employees when he first joined Euromonitor five years ago. His journey led him to become the Chair of the DEI Advisory Group at Euromonitor, where he is actively contributing to shaping a more inclusive workplace.
Laju Tripathi recounted her early struggle to balance authenticity with conformity in her career, but now advocates for individuals to embrace their true selves. She encouraged attendees not to be afraid to be authentic and to seek environments where they can thrive as their genuine selves.
The evening was bookended by memorable networking opportunities, accompanied by refreshing drinks and canapes to suit every palate. Attendees also had the opportunity to experience a personalized tour of Euromonitor's office, providing a glimpse into the company's work culture and commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion.
BYP Network's inaugural Chicago event with Euromonitor International was more than just a networking mixer; it was a celebration of diversity, transparency, and the power of mentorship. The event catalysed meaningful conversations and connections, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended. As BYP Network continues to partner with organisations committed to diversity and inclusion, the future holds the promise of more transformative events that uplift and empower Black professionals in Chicago and beyond.
