BLACK FUTURE MONTH

BBC’s Retrace community is proud to announce the launch of "Black Future Month," a forward-looking series of articles, events, and talks dedicated to celebrating and empowering Black tech professionals. This initiative was prompted by the noticeable decline in engagement, media communication, and promotion of Black History Month in recent years. Recognising the importance of both historical awareness and future innovation, we are taking bold steps to shape the future of tech and elevate the presence, impact, and visibility of Black talent and leadership across the industry. We want to make waves and raise the tide. If you want to learn more about the reasons behind Black Future Month, check out our post on LinkedIn.
As we head to our next event on Thursday, 24th October—a Fireside Chat with Dion Bailey, a former member of the BBC—we're excited to feature Dion, a technology leader driving innovation in the media industry. As Chief Technology and Product Officer and co-founder of The News Movement, he develops and implements technology strategies that enable news organisations to thrive in a competitive landscape. Dion also shares his expertise as an adjunct professor at Cooper Union, where he teaches Introduction to Web Development. Previously, as VP and Head of Technology for The Wall Street Journal, he led digital initiatives that significantly increased digital subscriptions and transformed audience engagement. Known for his cross-disciplinary skills, Dion is a sought-after collaborator and speaker.
Get ready to join us for an engaging discussion with Dion, hosted by Louis Howell. This online event will be filled with insightful conversations, valuable takeaways, and a chance to interact with Dion in real-time. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to connect with a thought leader in the industry—grab your spot now!
Also, look out for our in-person Black in Tech Mixer on the 12th of November, with another event coming in December as we finish the year strong. We are committed to celebrating Black history and Black futures throughout the entire year.
