Celebrating Black History Month 2024 at Kingfisher

In October, our Race & Culture Network hosted Black History Month with the theme of "Showcasing the Untold Success Stories of Black Heritage." As the network's Group Executive sponsor, our CEO championed this opportunity to honour the rich history, achievements, and cultural contributions of Black heritage.

Throughout the month, we organised events designed to inspire, educate, and celebrate. Highlights included:

  • An African Dance Lesson in Lille, bringing colleagues together to experience and celebrate African culture.
  • A Colleague Panel Discussion titled “Our History, Told by Us,” led by our Network Co-chair, where he shared personal insights and stories, he was joined by his Mum.
  • A special World Mental Health Day session featuring guest speaker and mental health advocate, Colin Jackson.
  • An inspiring talk by renowned journalist and speaker Clive Myrie, who shared stories of resilience and success.
  • Curated book recommendations offered to colleagues, encouraging exploration of new perspectives.

This month was a celebration of unity and growth, furthering our commitment to understanding, honouring, and celebrating Black culture within Kingfisher.
