Timmy – Graduate Engineer at SSE

My journey in Electrical and Electronics engineering began with a group project in secondary school that sparked my passion for LED lighting designs. This fascination led me to pursue engineering. I further nurtured my interest by choosing elective subject alternatives around basic electronics in school and enrolling in electronics summer camps. It was during these camps that I developed a keen curiosity about automation and digitalisation, which ultimately influenced my decision to study electronics at the university level and shaped my career choices to this day.

My career in STEM has been marked by a versatile approach driven by my innate desire for creativity and problem-solving. While my journey to engineering resulted from process and evolving choices over the past decade, I have not been disappointed by the path my curiosity has led me through.

Chisom – Graduate Engineer at SSE

From a young age, I was drawn to science. During secondary school, it became clear that I had a passion for creativity and problem-solving. This realisation fuelled my determination to become an engineer.

For my undergraduate studies, I strategically chose to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. I was drawn to this broad and versatile engineering discipline, which allowed me to explore various industries and be a solution provider by converting raw materials into useful products.

After gaining work experience and becoming more aware of the future challenges we face, particularly in the energy sector, I knew I needed to specialise further. This realisation led me to pursue a master's in Energy Engineering, where I could focus on renewable energy and be part of the collective effort to achieve net zero and create a sustainable environment, as I am doing now in SSE.
