Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience developing and maintaining software using C++.
  • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing back-end systems.
  • Experience architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with database query languages (e.g., SQL) and data modeling techniques.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as an architect or technical lead on large projects.
  • Experience designing and operating highly available, high load, and low latency distributed services.
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management or Security.
  • Experience driving collaborative cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with AI tools like JetSki/Antigravity, Claude Code or Cursor.

As a Senior Engineer, you will develop platform features and improve reliability of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) authorization infrastructure - a family of services that support tens to hundreds of millions of queries per second (QPS) for Ring 0 services. You will influence technical and design decisions on your team as well as contribute to project roadmaps, execution, customer experience and operations. You will work closely with other leads and product teams in Cloud Identity and Access Management (IAM) to solve ambiguous and complex architectural problems. US: $174000 - $253000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale architectural and reliability initiatives in authorization, from designs to productionized solutions.
  • Reduce technical, design, and implementation ambiguity working with management and technical leaders.
  • Drive sprint team execution, and maintain high velocity, while continuously developing tooling expertise to improve self and team performance.
  • Mentor engineers on your team, helping them grow and become effective owners of critical components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-teams across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to drive outcomes.
