Server Qualification Engineer, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a technical server environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience utilizing a methodical and organized approach to data collection, root-cause analysis, and reproducing hardware failures.
  • Understanding of CPU, Memory, and peripheral characterization using statistical analysis and data collection for failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with common interface test methodologies (PCIe, CXL, Memory, I2C/I3C, SPI/eSPI) and component performance evaluation.
  • Excellent written or verbal communication skills, along with an understanding of complex computer systems.

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive test plans and effectively coordinate resources across multiple test environments.
  • Perform electrical, functional, reliability, and performance tests to ensure hardware solutions meet strict standards.
  • Report bugs and drive corrective actions with external suppliers or internal development teams.
  • Maintain, improve, and drive efficiency and quality in the qualification process, focusing on Gen-to-Gen optimization.
  • Work closely with the Original Device Manufacturer (ODM)/Joint Design Manufacturing (JDMs) to ensure all external testing aligns perfectly with company standards.
