Software Engineer III, Embedded Systems, Pixel Watch

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C programming language.
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience working on commercial wearable/mobile products.
  • Experience working with embedded processors, linux kernel, drivers, board support package (BSP).
  • Experience in performance analysis and optimization, with a focus on embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Microcontrollers, SoC, device drivers, hardware bringup, power management, ARM processors, file systems, bootloaders, firmware, or hardware/software integration.

The Google Pixel Watch team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful smartwatch experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel Watch devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build smartwatches and create transformative experiences for users globally.

The Pixel Watch System Software team designs and builds premium wearable devices and services that showcase the potential of the Android and WearOS platform. We are seeking outstanding software and firmware engineers to develop the system software stack for future smarter wearable devices, ranging from architecting, designing, developing, testing and deploying complex wearable consumer devices.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $147000 - $211000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain the BSP and the system software stack for the Google Pixel Watch devices.
  • Debug and resolve hardware/software integration issues, including hardware bring-up, hardware/software system validation, manufacturing, and hardware/software version upgrade.
  • Create validation tools and test cases to verify the functionality of the hardware and software.
  • Optimize and improve software quality, including system stability, power consumption, and system performance.
