Manager, Security Technical Program Management

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of cybersecurity and project management experience leading and delivering security programs.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership and people management role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience delivering security solutions and managing programs.
  • Experience articulating a clear team goals, and leading a team towards the implementation of these milestones.
  • Ability to drive steering committee and cross-functional team meetings to deliver technical solutions while mitigating risks and resolving issues.
  • Ability to work in a structured environment, and to influence at all levels while managing with ambiguity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, conflict/resolution management, active listening, and teamwork skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

In this role, you will be leading and managing projects within Product and Enterprise Security Engineering teams. You will work cross-functionally and alongside Security Engineers and have a positive impact on the security of Google’s data and infrastructure. You will require sound judgment under pressure, a technical background, meticulous attention-to-detail and outstanding communication skills. You will co-ordinate between many stakeholders, set expectations for deliverables from many different teams, keep track of success of parallel efforts, identify key roadblocks and work with the team members involved to keep things moving. You will be the owner of large security programs and ultimately responsible for their success. You will deliver programs with significant business impact.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $279000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Technical Program Managers driving security efforts for Alphabet Acquisitions and Bet companies, guiding them through technical expertise and domain knowledge while mentoring new team members.
  • Lead security assessments and design mitigation strategies to raise the security bar across Alphabet Acquisitions and Bet companies, assessing technology, integration and separation risks and drive remediation efforts.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide technical direction and influence technical design, and recommend and oversee engineering solutions that address discovered security gaps.
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with customers and key partners, creating a collaborative work environment within the team that fosters transparency, innovation, and learning.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders to drive decisions and a high-security bar for engagements, while supporting the leadership team in managing the team's overall culture, morale and well-being.
