AI Research Software Engineer, Code Search
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience with Google infrastructure and building scalable distributed systems.
- Working knowledge on GenAI, RAG, Agents

Responsibilities
- Partner with agent teams (Gemini Coder, Duckie, Basecamp) to create sub-agents, tools, RAG solutions and workflows enabling them to do better code exploration.
- Research and POCs on new techniques of improving accuracy of code exploration for coding and knowledge Agents.
- Integrate LLMs, RAG, Skills to augment Code Search with features like natural language code search, chat agents.
- Design, develop, and maintain core features of the Google Code Search platform, used by thousands of engineers daily.
- Improve the efficiency and scalability of Code Search infrastructure, ensuring fast response times and high availability.
