Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML, Google Photos Reminiscing

Bengaluru Karnataka India Full Time

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  • 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with the development and evaluation of new signals/scores for large-scale systems.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and research.
  • Experience in Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs), with an understanding of how to train and evaluate models.
  • Ability to define and execute initiatives in a fluid, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • A passion for Google Photos and a desire to make a positive impact on millions of users worldwide.

Photos Reminiscing’s mission is to Help showcase your life story, so you can explore and enjoy the moments that shaped you, and our responsibilities include development of the Photos Memories feature. Launched in 2019, Memories helps users look back at moments big and small. Today, it is one of Photos’ most popular and engaging features, with over 650M monthly active users.

This role is to join our Machine Learning-focused team within Reminiscing, focused on leveraging the latest and greatest ML technologies to define the future of what our Memories can be. Our goal is to generate high quality, visually engaging Memories that help you relive the most important moments in your life.

Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to help refine our team's technical direction, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall Google Photos goals.
  • Deliver high-quality software solutions, through both direct contributions and indirectly working through others, that delight users and contribute to the continued success of Google Photos.
  • Establish and promote software engineering best practices, balancing code health with project velocity and maintainability.
  • Advocate a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing, open communication, and mutual respect.
  • Shape the team's technical direction and roadmap, and partner closely with product managers and research engineers across Photos and Google to bring your direction to life.
