About the job
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.
In this role, you will be responsible for cross-organizational programs, establishing influence, and optimizing processes to achieve significant business impact. You will be implementing an established program controls approach that is flexible, effective, efficient, and responsive to stakeholders as well as executive leadership reporting needs.
You will be a scheduled subject matter expert on data center construction in greenfield, brownfield, co-location, and retrofit facilities (e.g., schedule, risk, and change management). You will be working closely with the cross-functional team members, overseeing and implementing planning/scheduling and progressing methods/tools to establish integrated project schedule planning as we analyze new technology to deploy and build new data centers (DCs). You will lead efforts to improve operational efficiency, cycle times, reliability, predictability, and on-time delivery.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $163,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
